#3: Re: Car wont turn off! Help! Author: wagsy206, Location: Coatbridge, LanarkshirePosted: Thu Jan 13, 2011 12:48 pm ---- Can you remove the key from the ignition? The reason I ask, my dad had a 406 and he couldn't turn the key to switch the car off. Ended up having to get a new ignition and ignition loom.

Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Thu Jan 13, 2011 3:11 pm ---- on the dw8 1.9 it has a lucas fuel pump and the stop solenoid has a anti theft plate around it you have to grind it off and its a nightmare on the car but not impossible as i have done one with a dremmle before here is a pic

#13: Re: Car wont turn off! Help! Author: fkismad, Location: Northern IrelandPosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 3:59 am ---- Forgot to ask, how do i know if my pump is a lucas or bosch? Ive seen a DW8 engine spec and it says it could be either pump.
#14: Re: Car wont turn off! Help! Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 7:16 am ---- most come with lucas the lucas is the one in the pics above a bosch is the pic below
on a bosch the solenoid is exposed so its easy to get to bosch are very rare on dw8 in the 206 they put them on the 306 dw8 and a few berlingo vans
#15: Re: Car wont turn off! Help! Author: fkismad, Location: Northern IrelandPosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 5:41 pm ---- I had a look and found somebody has already cut the steel cover that hides the solenoid and it looks like a new wire has been added in for some reason. Thought it might be a bad connection so i took the nut of the solenoid and cleaned the contacting metal. This wire doesnt look original at all.
Think i will just replace the soldenoid. Do i need a special tool to take it out ?
#16: Re: Car wont turn off! Help! Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 6:54 pm ---- 22mm is the size socket you need
the wire someone has put on to bypass the immoblizer and from the looks of its they have got the feed from the ignition thats why its going back into the car
you will need to do this too its quite easy to do just tricky but its only alloy not steel
