#1: Milage Correction of speedo Author: Silvery206, Location: NottinghamPosted: Mon Jun 13, 2011 2:07 am ---- Hi just got my speedo problem sorted with getting a new speedo cluster which is now showing 120k, however my car is 56k and i know you can have mileage recalibration by companies.
I was told by a 406 owner who had this problem that you can replace the milage bit in the cluster around to get the same milage. Is this possible?

If it's multiplexxed then the previous mileage will be overwritten and replacing clocks with less mileage won't change it. Not sure how you could get it reduced though, sure someone on here knows.

He can just change the cluster again to one of a lower mileage. The mileage is not permanently overwritten.

If your car is non plexed then yes it can be done.
Dont even think about it on a multiplexed 206, the built in anti clocking system will just re overwrite the mileage again

Its a Y reg, non plexed. How would i go about changing it?

Read the coding
Look for the coding similar too - 40 42 0F 00 BF BD F0 FF 40 42 0F 00 BF BD F0 FF
and 40 42 0F 00 BF BD F0 FF - would be a mileage

my father in law has a '53 plate 206 1.4 petrol with a rev counter stuck at 3000 (min) when idling i have new speedo and rev counter motors and have already stripped them out of an old 206 dash..... if i unplug the dash and remove the rev counter motor and replace... will this need to be reset? or will it cause any other issues??
another friend of mine is having issues with an X reg 206 petrol.... no speedo, rev counter, mileage display, etc... only has a battery light, fog, dip and main beam ind lights working??? started off by no fuel gauge then worked its way up to this lot!! checked all the fuses and connections.... noticed he has no brake light switch fitted! could this be part of the problem? and what else do you suggest to check??

However with your car you only need to correct the mileage in the speedometer. The above post about programming the EEPROM is correct. If you are unable to do so, give me a message and you can send your speedometer to me or bring it to me for correction.
