Good afternoon everyone, newbie here. although member since 2013. Have had a career in auto engineering, now retired.
the above vehicle has started to display ( engine immobilizer fault ) a couple of seconds after ign. is switched on.
The vehicle starts and runs as normal and as soon as it starts the fault goes from display.
using planet , no faults found
no faults show up in bsi or other modules.
has anyone come across this situation before please.
chassis no VF32KRHYF44058195 build code 0118 for (planet)
I have checked and cleaned all earthing points under bonnet and checked and cleaned ecu connectors. No corrosion was found.
I have not started checking wiring loom etc yet.
The vehicle is performing really good apart from this immobilizer warning on startup.
I am a little worried to take it on a long journey in case it plays up !!!
some photo's of immobilizer diag pages and ecu info included.
It reports that ecu is locked and keys not synchronized, but starts and runs normally. locks and unlocks from remote ok!!!
com 2000 reports no faults as well.I was under the impression that if ecm is locked then vehicle would not start !! please find some planet screen shots
I have also changed keyfob batteries and both keys work ok.
Scratching my head atm.

What is the history of the car?
Is the immobiliser system working?
Remove the screw from the keyfob, then try & start the dark with just the key blade - make sure the remote part is well away from the car.
The engine should turn over but not fire if the immobiliser is armed.

Do you get the "take the key" bleep warning when you switch off the car? and if so, does it stop when the key is a few inches away from the ignition? (wondering if someone has lost their spare keys & then taped the one remaining transponder chip to the barrel so they could get replacement keys cheaper & now it's getting confused "seeing" the chip all the time?)

I have owned the car for several years and not had a replacement ecu or bsi.
Had a spare key cut and programmed not long after getting the car, and both work ok. Don't know when immo fault started to display as only saw it recently when keeping ign on to check my dash cam. I normally switch on and start so do not see the fault.
I have just tried the key blade on it's own and car starts as normal, so appears to not be immobilized!!!!
Central locking and alarm appears to work ok.
Take key out beep is working when door opened with key in ign. and goes off with key removed a few inches!!
I bought the car with very low miles and it did not look to be messed with apart from egr solenoid disconnected (as usual) I have blocked pipe and all good over the years.
hope you can shed some light on it.

Just one more thought, could you run PP2K again with just the key blade (transponder and fob well away from the car) and see if, as well as still starting, the software still "sees" the transponder chip? Might provide an extra clue possibly. From the beeper behaviour it would seem it's recognising a chip in the key & not one stuck to the barrel though, my knowledge of the immobiliser system isn't great but it's definitely acting strange!

I can't think why, but it popped into my head as something I've seen someone mention doing in the recent past.
Maybe it's fallen from where it was taped, and is in intermittent range.

Definitely interested to see the PP2000 results for chip recognition both with the full key & with just the blade.
