Folks,

First post newbie but I've read a lot of previous posts before. Good forum by the way!

Anyhoo, my 2003 Peugeot 206 SW 16v (120k) has developed an oil drip so I figured it deserved some attention. Not too bad a leak and it only drops a couple of drips onto the drive once I've parked. However, when I drive initially and get out of the car there's a smell of burnt oil (manifold?).

So, in a fit of activity today I've Gunk'd the whole of the bottom of the car and then blasted around the block and up the by-pass then put the car up on blocks to see if I could locate the leak The engine is as clean as a whistle and I can't see any drips.

Howzat? Any ideas? Should I give it a longer run over a couple of days? I hoped I'd be able to see a new oil run somewhere on the engine and then figure out what the cause of the leak was.

Appreciated ...

What engine does the car have? oil could be coming from anywhere. cover gasket is normally the culprit.

Thanks commandosqueak.

It's the 16cc 16v petrol.

I've driven it 20 or so miles today and there is now some 'fresh' oil showing on the sump at the front. It looks very much to me like it's weeping out of a cast housing on the front of the lower engine block. I guess that's the oil pump or something?

I checked the top cover(s) and the head gasket area and they're all dry still.

If it's the oil pump how much of a mare is that to 're-gasket'?

Appreciated!
