Can anyone please tell me the correct procedure for sealing a sump. The car is a Peugeot 206 1.1 (2005) and has previously had a new sump fitted but has always leaked since I've had the car. I'm in the process of also replacing the exhaust system so whilst that's out of the way I can get clear access to the sump which I've now removed.

The sump has 13 bolt holes and between the holes are raised segments running along the centre. When sealing the sump do you apply a continuous bead of sealant over the top of the raised segments and continuing around the inside of the holes, or do you run the sealant along the inside or outside of the raised sections, or 2 beads of sealant along both sides of the raised segments? Thanks.

Just run a continuous bead of sealant around the entire edge of the sump.

That sounds like a plan, cheers. I guess something like that Corteco HT200c sealer will do the job.
