In the tub the colour looked pretty close, dont know if it just needs polishing or t-cutting or something but its not quite right on the arch and bumper. £16 thats cheap, I paid £29.99 for mine

do you have any advice where to go???
#7: Re: paint colour Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Tue Aug 30, 2011 6:37 am ---- There's always different tints to paint, and mixing will never be 100% correct.
#8: Re: paint colour Author: tweet, Location: liverpoolPosted: Tue Aug 30, 2011 6:38 am ---- find a local paint/bodyshop suppliers, they will mix you paint off the car, not off the paint code so it will be a perfect match

not true, mixing can be 100% correct, have to do it about 20 times a day in work
the thiong is when mixing paint, the ratios of each colour that go into the mix have to be exact, my mate used to work in halfords and said they weren't arsed about getting each colour that went into the mix exact so if you have 0.1 of a gram out on each colour and there are 5-6 colours that go into a mix then it will be out and not match Last edited by tweet on Tue Aug 30, 2011 6:41 am; edited 1 time in total

How does that work? Do they use something in there formula to take into account the way its been attacked by the weather/sun light etc?

after doing it for years you know what colour to add abit more or less in the mix, they will also keep checking against the car so its perfect before putting it in a can
#12: Re: paint colour Author: LeeThr, Location: North West WalesPosted: Tue Aug 30, 2011 6:45 am ---- Think I need to polish up the car and bits ive sprayed and see how they compare before deciding what to do with it.

if anything you need to machine polish the rest of the car, not the bits you've painted

think i will do this, physically matching the colour would be better than paint code match. thanx tweet
#15: Re: paint colour Author: Lewis, Location: Isle Of WightPosted: Tue Aug 30, 2011 6:51 am ---- Its not just the fact halfords arent great at mixing... it depends on the weathering your car has undertaken over the years! remember paint does fade! And therefore the colour of your car is not going to be qutie the same as when it came out the factory which is what colour halfords are matching it too... They arent matching it to your weathered paint, just the paint code from peugeot

which 99% of the staff don't stick to exactly which you have to do so no wonder matches are terrible

That whats I ment the whole car needs polishing, bloady perlecent paint, looks as dull as anything at the moment, but I need to polish what ive sprayed as well to get the gloss look instead of the matt look.

Already been said but find a local bodyshop and get them to mix some for you, won't be cheap mind you.
#23: Re: paint colour Author: tweet, Location: liverpoolPosted: Tue Aug 30, 2011 7:00 am ---- wet flat it with 2000 grit and machine polish it, or wet flat with 2000 grit and apply a better lacquer

not a bodyshop, a bodyshop suppliers is what you need, 99% of bodyshops only mix paint for sprayguns and won't sell it
not that expensive tbh, my local paint supplers does it for around £7 a can Last edited by tweet on Tue Aug 30, 2011 7:02 am; edited 1 time in total

i would rather pay about £7 a can for a perfect colour match rather than pay just under £16 a can from halfrauds which doesnt match.

Is it manufactures new spec or, the condition of your own paintwork spec?
But that should be fine for any job that you would rattle can
Anything big wants spraying with the gun, and probably blending in
