peugeot 206 1.4 16v rear bumper

hi

i'm a newbie here so bear with me

a bloke with a ride on mower whacked the rear bumper of my pug 206 1.4 16v and did a runner

aside from the paint stripped off etc... the bit where the rear bumper attaches to the main body just behind wheel arch there are a couple of issues

the part of the actual bumper where the bolt goes thru is fractured in bits

and the actual bolt is snapped off but the head of it seems welded to the body and won't budge

i'd love to post some pix to clarify but it doesn't like i have that option

anyone got any advice?

Hi, sorry to hear about the incident!..

Those are indeed coach bolts welded to the chassis, in order for them to never undo themselves.

Well, the nuts on those have probably also been "designed" to never get undone -- via rusting and seizing due to having elements thrown at them from the not-weather-proof wheel arches.
Not seen a single 206 where I wouldn't have to cut through the nut, while trying to save the weld-on bolt too: www.206info.co.uk/Foru...tml#659856

I'd now recommend to grind the bolt down, carefully drill a new hole and drive a bolt, fastening a nut with some thread lock applied, if you'd want to avoid the welding route.

As for the bumper, you could get some of those plastic repair kits, some come with a metal mesh too for extra strength.

if i can find another bumper with the the plastic part of the actual bumper (where the bolt goes thru) intact i could rob that bit and repair my existing bumper

yup, as for the bolt itself looks like grinding head and remaining threaded bit off

could only find actual peugeot listed bolts for that job from lithuania !!!

otherwise i have plenty of the right size threaded bolts in marine steel but an actual new peugeot nut needs a lot more than threadlock as it proper wiggles about

will try and update here once i've sorted
