Hi guys, Just got a new 206hdi and it's struggling to start. Bought it saturday and it started fine all day, then parked up saturday night until monday morning as I was sorting insurance etc...and since then it's struggling.

I let the glow plugs warm etc, go to fire it up and it turns a few times then spurts into life. Once running it starts fine again, but then if stood for a few hours it struggles again. I checked the battery today and its giving out 12v stood and 14odd running so that seems fine, Is it likely to be the glow plugs? Iv never had glow plugs go so not sure what the symptoms are.

Whats MFD? Um, light on the dash whilst running? If so no, or when i turn key before starting all the normal lights come up.

What engine is it?
I had a similar problem with a 307 2.0 HDI 110. Same Symptoms
Changed the Glow Plug Relay, Glow Plugs and had it plugged into 2 different diagnostics (Showed No Faults).
Had the injectors Re-Furbed and now it all seems Ok.

2.0 Hdi. Seems strange. So even after you changed your plugs it still did the same?

the pre-heating time in this weather is still next to nothing

12.0v reading from battery is really low, normally you should see at least 12.5-12.6v;

i would be surprise if you can start the engine

Well yeah it was 12.4V. Should I give the battery a full charge tonight to see if that helps?

12.4v sounds fine to me :s

did you smell burning engine oil from the exhuast?

it is common that engine oil drip into the cylinder due to worn valve/ piston ring. quite common in the HDi block which cause difficult engine start first thing in the morning
