Well so far I would say im around 70% ready for installing the turbo setup. Just waiting on the injectors, fuel pump, ECU (megasquirt) and FPR. So as you can tell I am still a few big bills away from being ready to take the car to (hopefully) bailey Performance in Telford.

I might get abit impatient and fit a few bits this coming week

Had a quote off Bailey motorsport for providing all parts needed to fit the megasquirt v2.. installation and setup. £1200 all in.

I have been reading through a few internet pages and have come across a few interesting threads saying that it is possible to run the oem ecu with a low boost.. larger injectors and an afr to control the fuel.

Now I know most people will say stick with standalone ecu but do any of you have any knowledge on standard management turbo builds. As i have said previously on the build I will not be running big power as it will only be around 240bhp with standard internals and a decompression playe running along a single headgasket.

If you run decomp you need two headgaskets, and please just avoid megasquirt

You will seeiously seriously regret it in the future

Gasket.. decomp plate.. gasket. Dp-engineering and a few others say one gasket with a sealant seal under the decomp plate.

What do you have issue wise with megasquirt? I have heard they are good due to be able to upgrade parts and fit newer running systems for future upgrades.

Bailey motorsport use them for their builds and they are s**t hot.. heard bothing but good things about them. Are you on about the older versions of the v1?

Have you had expierience with them? could you let me know your thoughts about them Addaz.. what did you run omex?

I find it very hard to believe that a Megasquirt ecu is better than any of those others!

From what I have read its an ecu that is capable of being upgraded when better ruñning systems come out where as the others arent. But at the same time not as widely mapped as omex and emerald in the uk. People have their own preference and I can't really comment because used any of the units. I know a few people that run megasquirt that praise it. It can be a simple DIY unit or it can be a fully loaded pre-built unit. As said I haven't had the chance to run different ecu's so I can't really comment on which is better the better ECU. Some of you guy's will know better.

Its w**k beyond belief, i should i know i have one!

The map scaling/ratio is s**t, half the stuff is missing you need, a map square isnt seen and causes a misfire, boost control doesnt work and it almost dies every time you save your settings which is regular as!

Honestly for the cost, go emerald for the love of god. Speak to track n road in essex, two of the best mappers youll ever meet. Or even rs tuning, they will laugh at megasquirt

When i say its caused more problems then its saved, im being as honest as i can! I wish i never bought mine, just go for a good known english brand!

I'd stick to the tried and tested brands with customer service support. You can always sell those ECUs and get good money for them later.

Cars looks great mate, really need to get stuck in with mine. I've done couple of bits now, like auto testing and a day a Gurston Hill Climb with the driving school with the car more or less standard, and I can honestly say the only thing in the car that needed to be fast is me. The fact the car wasn't stupidly quick and want to kill me at every opportunity made it so much more fun and easy to learn etc. If you go turbo fair play, but I'd get used to the car as standard, by the end of the day at Gurston I was only little slower than a couple of Boxter's. Either way, good luck, looking forward to seeing how the car turns out. Keep us updated.

I rang this company up at the time of my build (6years ago) and they had never heard of emerald or omex systems and tried to sell me the 'megasquirt' at this point the phone call was ended. you'll find it hard to find many mappers who will touch it as it's.... well not the best is what I was told be top Rolling road companies.
Oh did he tell you about his 1000bhp cossie engine he's building?

What are you lads running the throttles on? Omex or emerald?

Also how much was ecu and loom?

May go with omex or emerald now. I had heard so many people give megasquirt a top review but you guys are the opposite.
