as the cylinder head and head gasket needs replaced id though i post up some photos of my progress removing it so far....need to get all the bits to put everything back together still.....

 

 

where have the power steering pump and exhaust manifold gone?
 

oh theyr on the floor....
 

lovely smell mix of coolant and power steering fluid..
 

some funk on the induction pipe :mad
 

and more in the rocker cover...
 


and now some of my later....additions...
ties holding the bumper on..

and as it currently sits in my shed...

Why is the PAS pump off the car?
2001 GTi 138, Bilstein Sprint dampers, H&R springs, 21mm Peugeot Sport torsion bars, 22mm rear ARB, Peugeot Sport Group A wishbones, 283mm discs, Goodridge stainless hoses, Maniflow 304 grade 4-2-1 2.5" manifold and system, 200 cell cat, Richard Longman head, 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, 9.5mm TB spacers, 90mm air horns, Jenvey throttle linkage, Jenvey fuel rail, Aeromotive and Goodridge fuel fittings and braided hose, ITG sausage filter, Radtec custom radiator, Piper Ultimate Road cams, Piper vernier pulleys, Omex 600 ECU. was followin the haynes manual, and said, got to this chapter to remove power steering pump from its mount, so did, then turned back, and i realised it didnt need to be removed, jus loosened....

but atleast it gives me an excuse for new power steering fluid

and needs a new belt..

heads off...
 

 

head gasket...
 

yeap deffo fukd...
 

some damage to chamber 2
 

and ma bits...
 


so now the heads off to the headshop to be heli-coiled and skimmed...

Okay what's going on there? Do you actually ever service that thing? The oil looks like it hasn't been changed for like 100k. And do you have stones running through those cylinders?? I thought the rat look was only for exterior but it looks like it's got a bit going on inside as well!! Razz

Should look a little more like my old one did:

(Admittedly it had a head skim but a skim wouldn't even touch any of those dents as it hardly takes any off)

was due an oil change as it was, but the coolants all murky for some reason.....and no idea whats happened in the cylinder.....

but the heads away to the headshop on monday...and the rest of the engines getting a goooood clean before it all goes back together....
