The car excelorates fine but as you get up the rev range she lacks umph. especially on motorways when wanting to overtake or going up hills. ...

Sounds like the problem I had with my Mrs's car. It was a bent valve, would explain the wet plug. or one of the plug thats wet isnt sparking? Have to tried taking the pack out and inserting the plugs ...

Well have sussed it, bit the bulet and wipped the head back off, bent valve, but it wasnt when I put the head on, I can only assume when I fist went to turn it the water pump was frozen and it skipped ...

Right the saga continues, cleaned the air flow sensor as it was covered, also the idle control valve had gone, cleaned and changed them car run better but still not right. so checked the cam timing ag ...
