#1: 2.0 hdi decat sound Author: Harty, Location: West LothianPosted: Wed Mar 30, 2011 10:43 am ---- just got my hdi decatted on monday and i think its great but noticed its a lot louder than it was and its sounds like a cross between a tractor and darth vader exhaling constantly when driving around , there is no back box either its a stainless straight through 2 inch exhaust system with just a tailpipe on the end... is the noise normal or could it be just causee there's no back box there to tone the noise down?

will adding a backbox reduce performance at all? or will it be unnoticable?

yeah you do i always thought u didnt need any silencers if u had a turbo car but ive been told a few times that you do need abit of backpressure so god knows lol, either way it will stop it from sounding s**t.

Where was your car? Is it a 2.0 or 1.6 HDi?

Right now its got nimrods, gti half leather interior, gti map light, gti gearknob, gti handbrake, basically a diesel gti without climate control and sp pedals are to be fitted.. Just need to cc it and up the power oh and fix the flippin paint! Its flaking off everywhere may lower it in the future too
