#1: bonnet air vent Author: Mooseteets, Location: BlackpoolPosted: Sun Sep 04, 2011 10:12 pm ---- hi all, just signed up and i have just acquired a 206gti which has a few weird "features". First off i noticed when it was raining heavily the other day, that the air vent in the bonnet seems to collect rainwater rather well.
i opened the bonnet to fill up the washer bottle and noticed a load of water where the driver side spring/shock mount is,
is this normal for it to collect water here ?
is it possible to just seal up the air vent on the bonnet ?
it does not look like it actually provides any airflow to anything vital in the car, as there's a gasket around the engine bay and this vent is sat outside that gasket when the bonnet is shut.
i have searched and not found anything (anyone with a similar complaint infact), so any advice would be appreciated.

#5: Re: bonnet air vent Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Mon Sep 05, 2011 3:59 am ---- I cut the bottom from the old standard grill off and glued it to the underside of the sp grill, it works great and prevents water from collecting around the suspension mount.
You shouldnt seal it up, it would starve your blower motor of airflow. The pollen filter resides at the rear of this compartment
#6: Re: bonnet air vent Author: devotedsniper, Location: Tamworth, StaffordshirePosted: Mon Sep 05, 2011 4:20 am ---- Mine collects water also, only a small bit on the dip which is close to the ECU, provided it's been painted properly i can't see it causing to much harm provided you have the plastic cover for the top of the struct. It is abit of a design flaw though in my opinion.

this is what i was thinking myself, a bit of a design flaw, im tempted to just paint the metal parts with bitumin paint or something similar for water resistance.
