#1: trip computer, mileage remaining Author: Ghosty, Location: WiltshirePosted: Mon Nov 14, 2011 11:07 am ---- Did a quick search but could not find anything relevent to my query.
Basically, my fuel gagde light came on when the milage remaining said I have 50 miles remaining, so what I want to know is how accurate is that figure.
Can I still do 50 miles or is the light more accurate, I know doing the remaining 50 miles would bring all the crap from the tank into the engine, but theoretically can I still do 50 miles.

Always make sure you brim the 1.6HDi when you refuel, don't go sticking tenner's in

im assuming that is what the computer think i can do at eh current rate of burn till the car physically cuts out.
as for brimming it, again not sure what you mean, hazzarding a guess you mean right top the top. as it happens i only put £20 in and then trip comp said i could do 211 miles, of 1/3 of a tank.
so i guess my real question is how accurate are these trip comps, i know you should never truly rely on one, but what sort of accuracy do they have.
again this is the first car i have owned with one so still getting used to it all.
haha, i just worked it out, trip comp said i was using 45.6mpg average, so with the light on 50 miles left was a fairly close hit.
have to keep playing with that one.

However I wouldn't let it run that low, best bet is to fill it up, then just knock £10 in every few days/week. So it is always full.

#8: Re: trip computer, mileage remaining Author: Ghosty, Location: WiltshirePosted: Tue Nov 15, 2011 5:30 am ---- thanks lee i didnt know that, every time the filler cap was opened, gues its time to get it removed altogether then. as the £800 replacement cost for the DPF (FAP) ETC, is abit more than the £400 odd to get it removed altogether.
