#1: Speedo not working? Author: Werdnal, Location: Cornwall, UKPosted: Fri Feb 03, 2012 6:13 am ---- Hi all,
Noticed this morning that my speedo is not working. Hoped it was due to the cold temps overnight -5 here this morning, and only -1 now, but had to make a 15 mile round trip this morning, and that would have thawed it if frozen!
Any suggestions where to start looking please? On a previous car (Golf) there was a sensor on the front wheel, which occasionally came loose - does 206 have similar?
Any suggestions appreciated, thanks

Is the figure stay the same even u drive for a distance than it will be the speedo sensor on the gearbox need examination. your better off if this broken cause it is easy and cheap to replace.
Otherwise will be the speedo stepper motor berhind the dial need replacing. The motor itself cost 50 pound online and u need to have certain level of DIY skill to ensure u can change the component without messing up other dial. Alternative will be find a second hand speedometer but it will have different millage figure and it might cost u some problem cause of the anticlocking software on your car ecu.
last alternative will be use your sat nav to check the speed for now.

I did a google and found on another site that the speedo and reversing lights work on the same circuit, checked fuse No1 in the engine bay fuse box and its not just blown, but its fallen apart!
Sods law, don't have a spare 10a left, so going out to get some this afternoon and hopefully thats it!
My hubby fitted some auxillary reversing lights for me at Christmas, so have to get him to check the wiring later Last edited by Werdnal on Sun Feb 05, 2012 5:48 pm; edited 1 time in total
