Excessive brake pedal travel
-> 206 Problems

Hi guys,
My 206 race car has excessive brake pedal travel. I need to depress the pedal a long way before any braking action starts. Once the brakes are engaged they are strong and the pedal is quite firm, so I don't believe it's air in the system.
I have no ABS.
Any thoughts on what it might be? It's been like this for the last 3 years but it's hard to drive fast when you're not 100% confident with the brakes. I have to get off the gas early due to the time it takes to find the biting point.
Cheers,
Raz

I would say the discs are worn which creates extra travel for the pistons, feel the edge of the discs for a lip. I would replace the discs, pads and bleed the system as brake fluid should be replaced every 2-3 years because of water absorption.

I appreciate that you're trying to help, but I was hoping for something more 206-specific.
Piston travel doesn't increase as discs wear.
