Aircon/Blower Fan not working
-> 206 Problems

#1: Aircon/Blower Fan not working Author: Ollie.wain PostPosted: Thu Sep 10, 2015 5:34 am
    ----
So, for the past few months ive been trying to troubleshoot why there's no sign of life to my aircon system in my glx. Ive had the resistor out and checked it over all the connections seem to be working as they should so i refitted that after checking that the connections on the wires were all okay as well. Ive also checked the fuses for the blower motor, taken the blower out to see if any of those connections were bad and to check its not jammed, but again all seemed in order. None of the settings 1-4 seem to work at all and the a/c green light does not illuminate when pressed in. Im absolutely stuck on this one, is there any way for me to test the blower motor and resistor further or should i just go order new parts, fit them and see how it goes ?
Cheers, Ollie.

Remove the blower and wire it to a battery to check. I would be checking to see if there is power to the resistor and then if not going for a control pannel after checking fuses

No need to take blower out, disconnect the blower connector and check for power AND earth at the blower connector. The fact you have no warning light at the aircon button might also indicate an earth fault. The earth point is at the base of the front door frame and prone to poor contact problems

Right so I tested the blower and resistor both are find, I took the steering wheel cover off and fiddled with the ignition wires and it sprung to life for a second, I've ordered a replacement ignition switch, does anyone know if this would affect my radiator fan at all ? It doesn't seem to tourn on at all either just wondering if these problems are connected ? The wiring diagram seems to show a white cable that goes to both the air on system and the cooling system for the engine ? Cheers

It wasn't an air on warning light problem it was the little indicator light to tell you if its on or off wasn't working either but does the same earth problem apply ?

disconnect the blower connector and check for power AND earth at the blower connector. You know the blower works so check if it has power and earth at the connector.
