Hi Guys!

This thread will be a lot like all the others in this section! Will document all the changes/upgrades i make to my car as it goes along.

The day i got it, it cost me £650, it's a 1.4 GLX, in 'Jade Met Green', i believe! (KRU) It read 78,428 on the Odometer, and was in a little bit of a state. It had 7 months MOT left. (Until June 2012) and just over a months tax.

First things first, I got it back to looking roadworthy. Here's a picture of it in my drive the first day i got it after some touch ups and a clean.

FIRST DAY

First priority on the list, was to get used to driving it! The first modification i decided to make was around three weeks after having it. Basic stuff, debadging the boot.

BEFORE

AFTER

That's pretty much as far as i've got on my budget. I've also tried to change the colour of the MFD display, although it has a loose connection, which is a WIP to fix.

DISPLAY

The next thing on my mind would be alloy wheels, although it does already have an OEM set, which i kind of like and think suits it.

Alloys (Ignore how much they've been kerbed! Embarassed )

So, i'd love some ideas on what should be next!

My ideas:
Halo lights
GTi spoiler
Colour code trims?

Thanks! Very Happy

UPDATE: FRIDAY 30th DECEMBER 2011

LED Sidelight Upgrade

Ever since i got the car, i always thought the sidelights looked a bit dim and naff, so i ordered some 20 SMD LED bulbs to fit. They cost 1.59 from ebay, with free postage from Hong Kong, so i took a gamble!

Heres the comparison... I couldn't get the right angle in the garage to do both, so there's the drivers side with the original bulb, and then the passenger side with the LED bulb.

Went for a quick engine bay spruce too:

Final look:

Criticism and ideas are always appreciated! Very Happy

It came with leccy windows and mirrors Lee! I'm on one hellova budget too lol. If i had the money, those TV's and sports bumpers would be on their way down to me now! Wink

And trio, i'm not sure about lowering! I like kind of going with the subtle approach, so if i did, i'm not sure it'd be worth doing, as i wouldn't want to do it by much?

Also, i've never really done anything like it before, so is colour coding difficult? Then again, with the help and How to's on here, anything seems easy! Very Happy

Lowering 30-40mm is best. Best height to increase handling while lowering right.

How much would it cost to do? Would it look stupid with my car not having sports bumpers/spoiler etc?

Depends if you'd do any yourself and also what springs and shockers you bought.

Nah it would look fine normally Smile

Quality! Yeah i'd give it a go if it seemed easy enough! Laughing

What are the best, budget springs and shocks to buy?

Rear is a torsion bar, not springs.

I don't know any cheap springs or dampers, as I always go by...buy cheap buy twice

Bilstein B4 shocks will handle a 40mm drop
Eibach pro springs will give you 30-40mm drop

Okay mate. Just googled them quickly, shocks look to be around the £50.00 mark and springs £180?

Shocked

Edited to add: What alloys do you have Lee?

springs you can get for around £50-60 and only going 30-40mm down is fine to fit to your standard shocks, but get someone who knows what they are doing to lower the back
