Dear all,
A nice handy forum this is! And before going to the service garage [and breaking a bank :], I like to investigate things myself, consulting you.
Something is wrong with the passenger front road wheel mechanism. It is constantly mentioned in the MOT history for various problems (I can list them on my next post if you ask)
It hit me too, as soon as I bought the Pug (2000, 206 HDi TD): non-alloy tires that came with it look OK, but the passenger's front one soon got worn on the inside. A slight vibration was felt when braking.
With new alloys+Michelin tires fitted, it was OK first couple of weeks (though my mechanic assured that new wheels will solve everything).
But as time went by [of course!] gradually car's steering wheel column started shaking more and more, when braking from 45 to 30MPH. When driving slowly, I also hear brake pads squeak intermittently, and slow braking is also intermittent.
All became clear when I removed the wheel, here is the video engine running in 1st gear (good that diff works perfectly :))

Should I replace this warped(?) rotor? I heard that in such case both rotors (and both brake pads!) need replacing. Is that true and will leave me without trousers (i.e. broke)?

Ah thats were you are a bit out mate (but probably right)
The disc run out (or 'warping' in other terms) causes this and should be tested to confirm the discs are at fault, but while the discs are off check the hub as that can be the issue if the discs dont cure it

Once had a mate have 3 sets of discs and each warped after about 5,000 miles. It was only after he put a DTI gauge on the hub and proved to the garage that the hub itself was out of true that the problem was permanently cured.
You may not have the tools to do that but make sure the hub is scrupulously clean before fitting the disc. Eurocarparts are competitively priced for discs.
It is VERY unusual for discs to be warped, they usually imprint, so you are quite a special person.

Thanks everyone for hints, the problem still looms I think:
The wobble is on the nearside (passenger side).
The vibration was going worse, that it took out the nearside wheel bearing (started to roar). We replaced it.
Further, drop links (the offside one) started to rattle - don't know if that's related. We replaced them, rattle's gone.
I noticed that the whole nearside wheel wobbles slightly, and I think it is the root of all evil problems [to come..]
The hub should be fine, as I notice the same slight wobble on the half-axle, you tell me please: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yiQ0U50WdU
The brake discs and pads (on the front axle) have just been replaced, too. The vibration is GONE! But disc is still touching the pads intermittently; I gather vibration will come back, so first I address you guys for the video inspection and then will take things further.
The old brake discs were noticeably flat (against each other, and against new discs) -- so not warped  TA!

The CV joint's gaiter (boot) has come loose, and reveals some grease coming off (might have come off long time ago)
Will inspect how much grease is still left inside, how dirty it is, clean it inside out and re-grease it, re-sealing the boot with a brand new steel cable tie (instead of a loose plastic one, put by a mechanic!!..)
Still wonder if that can be the cause of the wobble. Will swap front wheels too, just to see if the wheel itself is also wobbly

Hub's surface is fine, Seabook:
I did an experiment, and placed a stationary object (a jack support) next to various parts of the drive shaft (way beyond hubs), and one can see the wobble:
i.e. the gap is pulsing, as the car goes (I jacked it up and put it in the 2nd)
So it's the drive shaft that is pending for a replace, hope that one will sort it out (not that the tranny/diff is causing the wobble on this nearside shaft only)

Can n/s driveshaft wobble come from tranny, the drive shaft being in fact straight and intact? Hope you fellows can comment, before I throwaway £55 on new driveshaft.
I could remove driveshaft to check, but the bend might not be visible to a naked eye.

Just replaced with brand new hub (and bearing) - still is shaking when braking at high speeds  I'm in despair.
Ruled out bent drive shaft, as it does not bear any load (car's weight), so blamed it on the hub.. Ran out of ideas now :{

There is still hope! Just jacked up in 2nd gear and the wheel and brake disc wobble is gone!!
So I suspect it's the worn brake disk as a result ot bent hub. Will the surface level itself out eventually?
Before I get a hold of a dial indicator, can I swap brake disks in place?

So, replaced wheel hub with brand new, brake disk got warped as a result of previous buckled hub, so had to replace brake disks too. Now finally NO MORE JUDDER! End of pain and money spent on other parts which fell apart due to judder (bearing, gear link, drop lonks, list goes on and on)
Now how do I move this to Solved section?

They said it was the hub from the start.
.u could have saved a lot time and money if u had listened...try talking cars using our language and not the derivatives ...more people will know wot u mean then...i guess your american then???at least its sorted anyway...

They suggested to check the hub's surface.
I checked the hub for wobble using a stationary object as reference, and it was wobbling altogether. So it was not its surface.
Automotive engineer friend of mine said it might be a buckled drive shaft (as you can see drive shaft wobble as well in the video). So this problem lashed out in complexity, through intense investigation and calculating physics forces all I lost in terms of money were two sets of brake disks. In exchange for lost time I got knowledge and experience,
I am neither American nor British. I was receiving relevant suggestions from the community, so this -is- a brilliant forum and I thank you all who helped.
