I posted this on the last site, so here we go again

I had the usual 206 rear worn axle problem, so after much deliberation I decided t buy a good second hand axle and refurbish it myself.

So the axle was 60 pounds and the bearings about 72 pounds. All finished it cost me about 130 pounds and about 6 hrs of time.

Note you will need access to hydraulic press to push torsion bars out of the arms and to assemble the bearings. But this could be done with a set of pullers and a decent vice.

That makes taking the rear axle apart look easy, what tools did you use?

nothing special usual stuff. However a press made life a lot easier

The presses are around 140+ second hand on ebay Smile Even still it's quite a technical process, not that simple! I'll be paying someone to do the 309's one that's for sure.
