Hi all sorry for my first post to be a problem, but I was wondering if anyone else knew anything about this fault, really worried that it's going to cost me a fortune: -

In 4th or 5th if I press the accelerator about 3 1/4s down or more and hold it there to get from 60 to 70 mph for example it will sometimes jump in rpms and give no extra power as if I have pressed the clutch.

It seems to happen at about 3k rpm and jump to 4 very quickly if I let off the accelerator a bit it settles again.

Many thanks in advance for any tips or info on it.

I'd say your clutch is on its way out.

Cheers for the reply, I thought it might do it pulling away too when it's the clutch. Is it usual for it to do it in the higher gears with lower torque?

Well, it's in for a new clutch now, £220 including labour, parts and VAT, does that seem ok? Apparently it had already been adjusted to it's maximum.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong; but when your clutch starts to go, it works its way down the gears.
