does have to be a hard hit if in the right angle. my reccomendation would be new rear quarter cut in and whilst they have it off they can sort any other issues underneath the damage.

Wouldn't ask for new panel as then all the factory seals will be broken. That panel is a single skin paper thick. and totally hollow behind so wouldn't take much to do that damage. There will be no structural damage so don't worry about that. It just needs pulling out and reshaping very easy job. As for colour matching if that caint do it that shouldn't be doing the job.
Will only be a write off if your cars worth less than £500.

Its gonna be a simple knock it out & filler repair for those prices.

That's wot you want? No a new panel as it makes a mess off all the factory seals if it was mine I would knock it out Resnais and filler it.

Depends on who does the repair.
I've had a new rear quarter fitted on a previous car & the side the body shop fitted was actually better then the other side that was factory fresh
Welds where neater & paint was a perfect match
Then again it did cost the other parties insurance nearly £1300 & this was about 14 years ago
