Before I start i'll do what most people seem to leave out in there problem posts.

CAR IN QUESTION IS: 2001 X reg Peugeot 206 1.4 8V LX Pre-Plexed

Right changed my rocker cover gasket a few weeks ago as it seemed to be slowly dissintergrating and letting a bit of oil leak out. However in doing so I managed to snap the top of the thread of one of the studs that the nut bolts on to that hold the cover down. Pulled it back off and pulled the stud out. Found a bolt the right length diameter etc that would do as a temp fix to stop the leak which it did so very well. However got a new stud from peugeot. Fitted it today, and tightend it all back up again. Now when the engine is running there is oil coming out from the back on the otherside and getting everywhere. Tried to tighten that side up a bit more, but it gets so far then just goes loose again. Any ideas guys?

Sorry about the essay style post.

Lee

You've cross threaded the bolt

Why do I get the feeling someone has also over tightened the bolts & warped the rocker cover Wink

These rocker covers are easily bent by people doing the bolts up to tight.

7Nm if there M6

16Nm if there M 8

Take the rocker cover off, put it on a flat surface & you will mostly likely find its now bent.

Right, problem solved by the looks of things. Took it all off again, reseated. and used the other nut I had instead of the one that wouldnt tighten up all the way. Now seems to have sealed back up and isnt throwing oil around everywhere Very Happy
