Hey,

So since i already have a progress blog up on my old club i figure i really should start one on the 206 club, so here goes, this could take a while Confused

So first things first, car history, well to start with i've owned 2 '99 106 zest 2's with the little 1.1 SPi engines in them, the first one was written off (never failed me once in the 9 month i had it, my sister wasn't happy i killed her first car (and mine)) no pic other than the right off damage which i doubt you wanna see (cracked bumper, squished boot), next up was a heap of junk which constantly broke down, i spent well over 1k on repairs alone, in the end i offloaded it to my neighbours who broke it, heres the heap of junk;

So afterwards i didn't really have the cash for a new car so i ended up walking alot and car sharing with my housemate, and here's her baby, a Renault Clio Sporting (1.4 8v), with the exhaust snapped in half...that was one loud trip back from my parents i tell you, 30 miles with no exhaust is near deafening;

Anyway thats it for history, so why did i get a 206? Well since were no longer living together (shes on work experience, i'm repeating my second year of uni Sad ), i'm now back with my parents planning on travelling everyday so i needed a reliable (french reliable? i know i'm kidding myself), and comfy car (a 106 is definatly not), so off to measham car auctions where i picked up this for a bargain of £750 + buyers fee's, a 1.4 8v LX;

So once i got home i hit the bay buying goodies, some parts i needed, some i didn't and some i just wanted. So here we have the usual rocker cover gasket (seem to need one of these every time i buy a pug), 150watt FLI front speakers, 120watt FLI rear speakers, amp wiring kit, super bright headlight/sidelight bulbs and a cheap radio to last till student finance comes in;

While i was waiting for all that i went digging around the garage for something i thought broken, only to find out after buying a new one it wasn't, my old sony xplod active sub, now it was scratched all over so i decided to refurbish it, word of warning sony sticker glue is very strong it took an hour to get it all off the plastic, and heres some before and after pics;

Next to go on was the speakers... i hate these stupid clips! i never wanted to see them again after the 106 but there back to haunt me Evil or Very Mad door off;

Front Speakers in, a perfect fit, god knows why people suggest 17cm, 16.5cm bearly fit;

Rear speakers in, and what i'm guessing peugeot class as sound proofing back on..;

So after all this work went into wiring up the speakers and sub, the lil pug went typically french on me and decided the headunit was no longer allowed to work and after about a weeks worth of trouble shooting it turns out the memory feed is dead, no idea whats wrong with it so i just ended up wiring it to the battery, and eventually i got it to work ( a big thanks to; Richie_1, Chris1.1, Sazismail, richardw1992, and sam w from 106OC), we have life!

The cars now a couple grams heavier, it's meant to get lighter not heavier!

Also while stripping the wire described in the manual as antenna, this fell out Question oh well i don't need it and if i do i can always wire it in manually;

Now i'm trying to keep the car looking fairly standard (with a hint of gloss/matt black) so to keep in with that theme;

Next up were 3 small mods, paint front badge, mist style washer jets and a new gearknob and gaiter to replace my slightly worn one;

Anyway a few days later i had a nice surprise from Mr DVLA, my new V5 (i must say i'm not liking the new colour), so once i received this i went about checking my paperwork when i came across something which made my heart sink a little;

After reading it it turns out it wasn't too bad, the offside door and wing had dents, i'm assuming they were replaced as there mint when i had a look (offside is passenger side isn't it?, either way the doors look fine), in fact the only bad points for the car other than the rocker cover leak are 3 scratch's 2 on the bonnet (deep, need touch up pen), and one down the rear quarter on the passenger side (again deep). Anyway after reading and doing some research i'm pleasantly surprised with the cars history;

- The car has only failed MOT 3 times, once due to a misting shock, once for the headlights aiming too low and the year after the headlights aiming too high with the drivers side also pointing too far right
- The windscreen was replaced in 06 at 31k
- The rear washer jet doesn't work (after fixing the pipe which had snapped it's still not firing out of the washer, and i can't get the third brake light off to save my life
- Last Serviced in November 2010 and a full check up (service history in log book till 05 too, but receipts for after 05)
- Nearside lower arm front bush is flared (so i'm asumming this will need doing for MOT)

Next up i went about debadging my rear and i must say i'm quite happy with how it turned out (i wasn't sure about it before i did it), and i found a use for my natwest railcard, they keep sending me them but i have no use for it Laughing ;

Oh and afterwards to get the tcut off i washed her and she certainly does shine with a bit of demon shine on her;

God this is dragging on i really should have put this up earlier.

Anyway my new headlights arrived, so on with the strippage!

Primer, only to run out half way through;

While i had no primer i went about making a h4 to h7 adapter (i may add a relay later on, it depends what there like);

I was disappointed when i received these headlights they aren't in the best condition, the sidelights holders are burnt. an indicator bulb holder is missing, and one of the headlights adjuster plates kept falling out of the holder meaning i had to strip them back down to connect the headlight adjuster, anyway pic of the sidelight holders condition (lucky i can reuse my current ones..;

While i was waiting for more primer my computer got infected with the damn french meaning i had to cannibalise my first home built machine (now my friends old machine, yes i build them to make cash on the side) for spares since i'd spent all my cash on the car, I'm a poor student money either goes to the car or the computer, it's usually 50/50 but sometimes either side wins and hench the old machine got stripped of it's ram to last untill my student finance comes in september, come january this will either become my server or go in my car for an in car computer, we'll see, that is if it doesn't die first....and yes that is pink coolant Wink ;

Anyway while i was fixing that my primer arrived, along with some matt black and high temp matt black;

Which meant these could be finished, and yes i forgot to add the indicator glass when i took the photo;

Later that day while i was reassembling the headlights my Gran Turisme brake calipers arrived, looking rather sorry for themselves but for £12.50 i can hardly complain, anyway thats what the high temp paints for, they even came with a set of what look like new pads, bonus! even if i'm planning on getting green stuff pads Cool ;

So like anything else to do with a car seized bolts were an issue, after a few days of coating the carrier bolts in WD40 and using a hair drier (i'm not joking it gets hot enough to do what a blow torch does, not as hot but it still works) they eventually loosened, and hour or two with a high speed drill and wire wheels, i was getting no where near refurb, but they were in a good enough state so they'd still look good on the wheel and weren't going to cause more rust so i sprayed them (not sure on the colour, i'm wondering if HT laquer will make it darker, if not i can always get more paint, there not going on yet anyway;

Next up was unseizing the piston, solution? cut head off the brake lines, connect to foot pump and pop, out they come looking rather sorry for themselves, 10 mins with the wire wheel and some more paint and heres the results;

Ok now were getting somewhere the last post of my updates on the other blog

While the parents were on holiday meaning no old man moaning at whatever i do to my car, i decided to get to work on my dash so out it comes;

Prep and Prime;

Now i wanted a 2 tone paint job on the dash, so these got done in matt black;

Along with the wiper arm cap and bonnet vent to keep up with the theme;

While thats all drying, i went about detangoing the clock and milage gauge, yes that is f1 on my computer;

And the finished product of my painting skills;

Anyone else thinking i should get a lockwood kit? I plan to resolder the LED's and swap them for some blue ones later but i'm not too sure when it comes to the dial paper, anyone think white would look good with those dials? I don't think they do a black version so it will probably have to be white if i do it, i'd rather have black if possible though.

The old radio had to go back in, the new one was causing my new phone to spaz out and it would only play my phone out the rear speakers and i'm not willing to risk it;

Something i forgot to mention was the brake lines wouldn't come off along with the rest of bolts so a little "persuading" was in order Twisted Evil ;

There now more or less refurbished they just need new dust caps as there torn to shreds;

So thats all for now except for the future plans list which is below;

- 14" or 15" alloys in black or gun metal grey
- fit brakes with greenstuff pads and grooved discs
- 180 seats, door cards, steering wheel
- Cam (maybe, i'm waiting to see what new MOT rules are like since my MOT is january)
- Sports Exhaust with sports CAT (need to keep it legal now)
- Front Fogs (which means new bumpers too)
- Either colour code or black the bumpstrips
- Panel Filter when i service it, along with new cambelt
- Fit headlights
- Disc rear axle
- Quickshift (the throws are too big for me, but i want one which doesn't ruin my interior with a stupid metal stick for a gear selector)
- Dye headliner
- Check the airbox for blockage (the car didn't seem accelerate as fast as my 1.1's on the trip home but it may have been me not used to the car, i know it's heavier but it should be somewhat nippy, maybe i'm too used to the rev happy 1.1, but then again the clio sporting seemed to accerate slowly compared to the 1.1 too)
- VTR inlet off a saxo (it's done quite often on the quiksilver 106 with some nice responses and this has the same engine so it's a possibilty)

Anyway i think thats it, sorry it took so long guys.

Thank you all for the comments, the cars currently sorned, don't you just love being young? 1.2k cheapest for car insurance which i can't afford till septembers student finance.

I'm not sure how fast progress will be since i'm having to budget £300 a month on petrol for uni journeys alone but if the facts on paper are accurate these can do 53mpg on extra urban runs which the runs to uni basically are so maybe i'll be getting close to that which means it will be less. There will probably be alot more progress january since the majority of septembers money is getting me out of my overdraft, the petrol cash will take me back down to £0, then there's insurance costs, and well your all motorists you know the costs.

I just pray this car is going to be reliable the 13 miles i drove it back, she didn't miss a beat, very quiet and so far nothing seems be leaking so thats all good signs compared to my old 106 which seemed to break every 5 mins from either fuel and air delivery faults or the rear brakes broke (3 times in 13 month, that thing just broke rear brakes, and no i wasn't doing handbrake turns or heavy braking unless it was nesscary). The only thing this car seems to have is some electrical gremlins such as the memory wire for the radio, it just completely died after changing the radio (even at the plug where the radio loom connects to) so i will have to keep an eye on it.

Rare that I actually read these all the way through... (bad i know) but that was a good read, good bits of progress, would be nice to see some sports bumpers or wheels like you plan to, as bigger changes Thumb Up

The first ones abit worse than that but i used a very hot hair drier, a flathead screw driver, and a little bit of rage, to glue it back i just used industrial strength glue. Absolute pain of a job to do, the plastic lips abit of a mess but as you can't see it when there on the car it doesn't matter to much.

I could do with leaving them out in the cold one night to see if condensation builds up before they go on the car, i just hope they are properly sealed, i dont want to have to take them apart again, the new glue is stronger than the original stuff. The lenses needs abit of a refurb also, so that will need doing also before they go on.

Thanks for the offer, right now i've banned myself from buying anything, but if there still around come end of september i might have em off ya. I was looking at the SP bumpers but the wings seemed abit different, abit more flarred which means i'd need those to doesn't it?

Thank you.

All thats left to do on it at the moment is have the interior out so i can get all the human slime out of the car from the previous owners and fix the slight tear on the drivers seat so i can shift them when i get a 180's interior Thumb Down

I may go about taking apart my intake and giving that a clean also, i know these engines are terrible for idling when they get dirty so i may as well do it before i start going through the hell of that the old SPi took me through.
