Hi folks, I'm curious to know if this happens with anyone else... the moment you open the door and it holds it makes an audible annoying "click" sound and again when you push forward to the next hold and back again etc. Other doors are fine...

So I had a look and it seems this is loose...

any ideas??

You need a new check strap.

They are interchangeable.

follow that strap with your hand towards the door. You will feel them then.

You need to remove the door card to tighten them. May as well replace it, they're only £15~

replace it, if you tighten it up the click comes back in a few days Razz

I did mine last week and it gets rid of this "click"

1. open the door

2. remove the inner mirror cover (be careful to remove the tweeter from its clips behind the cover) it simply pulls off

3. undo the screws around the door interior and the one in the handle (what you pull on to close the door from the inside)

4. remove the handle (inner one)

5. remove the door interior (the clips will break but they are cheap as chips from pug so ensure you get more before hand

6. using a sharp knife cut the rubbery stuff holding the white door seal on

7. ensure something is in the way of the door so when you remove the strap the door cannot fly open and damage with wing

8. Undo the two bolts on the check strap (can be accessed by fully opening the door and looking into the strap, use a socket and ratchet)

9. undo the large torx bolt on the cars main body (VERY VERY STIFF, i had to use a large torx key and apply A LOT of pressure)

10. Remove the check strap from inside the door

11. fit the new one (fitting is reverse of removal)

12. Ensure there are NO broken clip bits inside the door as these will rattle around and be annoying (you can use a hoover to suck them up)

13. replace the door seal (if you cut the rubbery stuff well it simply sticks back on) its really easy

14. put the new clips in and put the door interior back on

15. replace the handle and do the screws up

16. replace the inner mirror cover (refit the tweeter)

Job done, It took me less then 30 mins Smile

Please Dont take any of my posts as written fact. They are simply my opinion and although to the best of my knowledge true, the information within them may well be incorrect.

Any work you undertake as a result of my posts is done so at your own risk Smile

I just had a go at tightening the two bolts and at first it felt it tightening then after it loosens and there is no way of actually making it tighter or looser?! Applies for both bolts... and then tested the door and it is much quiet still a minor click though which is ok Smile

And they do cost a lot..
