Hi

I have a problem that my front washer jets aren't doing anything when you press it. However, the rear one works!

It doesn't make a pump noise or anything.

I tried to search but couldnt find anything for this specific issue. Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

I take it by front you mean windscreen and not the headlights?

IIRC it's the same pump that pushes water to both front and back, out different ports depending on which way it spins. That in turn is decided by which way +12V and ground is applied to it's two pins.

Might be different for pre-mux and mux'ed cars - so what do you have?
Year if not certain on the electrical system.

Given that it works one way but not the other, and IIRC, the wires to it are connected to alternately +12V and ground by relays, it could be a faulty/stuck relay. It could also be a control issue further upstream, ie BSI/Com/stalk.

Guess it could also (I'd think unlikely though) a mechanical issue in the pump that blocks it turning one way.

I'd start with pulling the connector off the pump and stick a voltmeter on the wires/terminals. Activating the rear washer should give you +12V or -12V depending which way round you've placed the leads from the meter. Activating the front should give you the reverse (ie if -12V with the rear then you should get +12 with the front)

If you get voltage when activating the front washer then everything 'upstream' would be OK and it's likely the pump.

If you don't get voltage activating the front washer then you need to track back to the relays, BSI, Com, stalk
