Hi Guys,

This is a long shot but...

Some time from 16:00 last night when I got home yesterday till i went out to the car this morning someone has broken into my car. My dashcam and two lightning cables were stolen. They gained entry into the car by smashing the front left door glass. The first thing I did was close the door and walk away and contacted the police. I will post some photos after SOCO has been as I don't want to contaminate any evidence.

The incident number is 153 of 22/11/16 can I ask you guys keep you eyes peeled for anyone selling a nextbase 212 dashcam. The serial number is 162204813. It was stolen in the Gloucestershire area. If anyone happens to have any information, ie they found one online with matching serial please let either myself or the police know.

Now that bit is out of the way, What would you say the best way to proceed is? I have fully comp insurance is it worth going that way or is it cheaper to purchase the glass and fit it myself or get a company to do it for me? *Censored* *Censored* Wall Bang Thumb Down *Censored*

Before anyone asks yes I did leave the dashcam in the window and yes I have learnt my lesson the hard way and yes I know I shouldn't leave things like that in plane view.

s**t to hear, sorry mate.

Depends on how skilful (or confident) you are. If you think you can replace the damaged glass yourself, and you find the glass cheaper than your excess... Then youse got your answer.

Problem with making a claim is, your no-claims can be impacted. So my advice would be to ask them gently and decide yourself whether you make a claim.

A lot of guys on the Facebook Peugeot 206 UK Owners Club are breaking 206's all the time (which is sad alright), but could help you out here.

I don't have social media unfortunately. I will have to do some research into it all. I only found out in the last hour or so, so its all a bit fresh. I have no problem with my technical ability but i also have protected no claims. Its all down to the excess ect.

Sorry to hear about your break-in. It's obviously getting close to that time of the year again!

Removing the glass is actually pretty simple, and I certainly wouldn't go through insurance for that. You'll be stepped back and they'll try and increase your premium anyway.

If you want, get the replacement glass and bring the car to me and I'll show you through replacing it!

Insurance wants £65 for excess to replace the glass plus I will have the hassle of claiming etc etc. or cheapest i found on ebay is £23. This is a no brainer lol. Vortechs when are you available?

I think you can mark it as glass, though could be additional costs involved.

Link to The Post Office (Hermes tells it is on own risk...):
www.royalmail.com/pers...items-tips

Special delivery costs about 8 quid... and compensates up to 500 quid.

sorry to hear about that..
I have lost track how many times my windows have been smashed..

Really easy to fix, hardest part is cleaning up all the glass from the nook and crannies. Smile

Doorcard off, Insulation off and the window will literally slide in from outside in and push fit on some plastic locks.
Really is that simple...

Hope you get it sorted soon. Smile

Well now SOCO have done there job, I moved the car into the field to inspect the damage etc. It appears they have used a screwdriver and damaged both locks to the point they no longer work. Then on the passenger side thay have tried to lever the lock out damaging the paintwork. they then gave up and stuck the screwdriver in the window track and levered outwards damaging the window track and shattering the window. They then took what they wanted and left. I think this may have to be an insurance job. I dont have a job and its coming up to xmas. I can barely afford to keep going let along repair the car. The photos are uploading to photobucket, once there finished i will post.

Photos as promised. Be interested to hear what you guys think. Not to bothered about the scratches but worried about the locks. What would they cost?
