Ive used JB Weld to repair many different things over the years.
The tricks are:
Key the surfaces & make sure there spotlessly clean.
Mix the JB weld correctly.
Try & press the 2 parts together then use some sort of vice / clamp / support to hold them together.
Let it fully cure.
Id have a go with the JB weld first before replacing the sump. |
do you have to sand the surface to provide more contact area? |

Forever if applied correctly unless you attack it with a grinder or other tools.

if you have the knowledge to take the gearbox off and the sump you would now to replace it and use proper sealer not the cheep stuff.

you can leave the box on, just got to make sure you don't mix up the bolts when taking it off.
there are 2 different length bolts on there.
if your going to take it off you might as well get it tig welded to be safe, cheap enough to get done
