I have owned my 206 GTI 180 from new and now with just over 80k miles on the clock the suspension has become very crashy so it's time for some new dampers and springs.

I don't want a super low or super stiff ride as I'm an old sod!
I'm thinking either take it to dealer and fit new OE parts or fit a Bilstein B12 pro-kit.

Has anybody been in this situation before?

What is the ride with the Bilsteins like?

Cheers for any help.

Dave

You will not get a better setup than a Bilstein setup. Don't go with the OE parts especially not from dealer as they will charge you through the rough.

I've not been in your situ but I've done suspension changes due to standard suspension setups being too soft and all over the shop but I've always been the sooper dooper low due to the look of the car.

However on my 205 GTi I do have a B8 Billie kit which is shortened shocks and is paired with Faulkner springs and i love it. Stiff, but enough you be enjoyable.

Also you could look at Eibach Pro Kits. Again highly recommended and on par with Bilstein.

Only problem with Bilstein is they don't do they're own springs so usually it's paired up with Eibach Springs. Don't get me wrong cracking setup. But If I'm buying a kit I'd want all the same brand.

If you are looking to go lower, I'd say the B12 kit. Maybe even some thicker torsion bars for the rear, stiffen that up a bit as well.

If you aren't looking to go lower, you will be fine with B4's and standard springs.

Just had a quote from a Peugeot dealer to supply and fit new springs and dampers.

Total cost -£922.82

Sounds expensive!

Buy the shocks and springs separately and go to any local garage that will do it for you for like 40-60pound or something.

Pointless replacing OEM springs with new OEM springs unless they have snapped.
For shocks, Bilstein yellow are great, whereas black are worse than OEM in my bitter experience.
